Why Use SwitchAid

SwichAid is a scheme that turns the switching of home energy into funds for your chosen cause.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much can I raise for my cause when switch my home energy?

The amount you raise depends on whether you are completing a single switch (gas OR electric) or a dual switch (gas & electric).

Single switch – £10

Dual switch – £20

How is money raised for the cause I support?

When you switch using SwitchAid we are paid a commission from your new supplier…this is how all comparisons sites make their money. The only difference is that we give that money to a good cause of your choice.

Am I paying extra to support a cause?

No not at all! Our comparison engine is Ofgem accredited, which means it compares the whole market and shows the price the supplier is selling at. You pay the same as going direct with the supplier, meaning the money raised comes from the supplier’s profit.

How do I know the money I raise is going to my chosen cause?

You can only get a home energy quote once you have chosen a cause to support. So we know who you are raising funds for and how much you have raised.

How much can I save by switching energy suppliers?

The average saving is over £200. Your true saving will be dependent on many factors. The best thing to do is choose a cause to support then find out for yourself 🙂

How does switching home energy actually work?

Answer a few questions about your current energy usage then compare the deals shown. Once you have found the right one for you press “Proceed Online” and you’re done! We do the work behind the scenes.

Within a couple weeks you will receive an email from your new supplier to confirm the switch is complete.

What information do I need to switch my home energy supplier?

All the information you need is on your home energy bills:

  • Supplier name
  • Tariff name
  • Energy consumption – either in kWh (kilowatt hours) or pounds
  • Whether your bills are paid monthly or quarterly
  • If you decide to leave before your current contract ends, please be aware of and check for exit fees.

This may seem like a lot of information but we have a guide to help you find all the information needed. If you need a little extra help, speak with a member of our team.

I rent, can I still switch my home energy?

If you pay the supplier for your gas and electricity then yes you can switch your home energy.

Your landlord may have a preferred supplier but you have the right to choose your own suppliers and your best deal.

We recommended switching as soon as you move into your new home.

I don't have a bill, can I get a quote?

Yes, you can use information about your home to find the right tariff for you. This includes:

  • Type of home (apartment, bungalow, detached etc.)
  • number of bedrooms
  • Number of occupants

£10 for a single switch

£20 for a dual switch
