Their Story
YMCA North Tyneside is a charity that has been dedicated to strengthening people in our local community since 1879. It enables people to develop their full potential in mind, body and spirit. Inspired by, and faithful to, our Christian values, we create supportive, inclusive and energising communities, where young people can truly belong, contribute and thrive.
The Problem
With a number of different meters, all with different suppliers, rates and end dates, the first step in supporting YMCA North Tyneside was to get a good grasp of what meters were live and where they were situated.
Overview
YMCA enables people to develop their full potential in mind, body, and spirit. Inspired by, and faithful to, our Christian values, we create supportive, inclusive and energising communities, where young people can truly belong, contribute and thrive.
The Benefits
Savings: £23,981.51
Grants: £684
VAT Rebate to date: – £886
The Solution
We worked closely with them to complete a thorough audit of their meters and contracts to establish an accurate timeline of every meter. The findings were then presented in a way that could be understood by anyone that took over the procurement role.
During the audit, it was found that multiple meters were out of contract and they paying 20% VAT instead of the reduced 5% VAT available to charities and not for profits.

Rachel Dyne, Operations Director
“The money we have saved and the significant grant we are receiving from SwitchAid.org will go towards maintaining the valuable services we provide to the hundreds of young people who often only need a friendly face and a little extra help to get them back on track with their lives.”
